Combination of UV radiation with 3D structure media filter for indoor air disinfection

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made us re-realize the importance of environmental disinfection in indoor areas. Several studies have documented that air purification system combining UV light and high-efficiency particulate (HEPA) filtration can successfully remove virus from air. However, cannot penetrate deep into HEPA, which causes pathogens inside be killed. In this study, we analyzed potential three-dimensional(3D) filter media with sterilization for treatment pathogen aerosols. Through geometric ray analysis, it is concluded transmittance attenuation 3D material linear, while ordinary fabric abrupt, means common only kill microorganisms on surface. order to prove irradiation eliminate filter, carried out an experimental verification. results experiment shows bactericidal rate increased dose k value 3.75*10-4, much smaller than disinfection. This indicates although more difficult surface fibers air, inside.
